Great and Glorious Grace

Great and Glorious Grace

ABOUT THIS BOOK

              • Why is it that so few books are written about grace, and so many about about love?
              • Why is it that man is today admired as a creature of great potential, and so little is today said about his need for grace?

The answer must be, 'Man is a creature who exalts himself, ignoring his frailties, his mortality, and his inability to rightly handle this world into which he is born.'

No other noun seems to have so many adjectives, and significant association with other nouns and verbs as this one word 'grace'.  Grace is said to be great, overflowing, glorious, abounding, surpassing, sufficient, lavish and many faceted. It is associated with mercy, peace, truth, consultation and home. It is that which is sufficient when a person is weak so that he can be said to be 'strong in grace'. It is  personal in that it is the 'grace of God', and 'the grace of Christ', and proceeds from the Father and the Son.

The gospel is 'the word of His grace', i.e. the gospel of grace. God's throne is 'the throne of grace' and ' supplies grace in time of need.' It 'saves' and 'brings salvation'. It also 'justifies freely as a gift'. It 'trains' or disciplines', and it brings 'zeal for good deeds'. It acts as a seasoning for right speech'. It 'frees from the law', i.e. from the condemnation of the law. There is a 'remnant chosen by grace' and this is 'the election  of grace'. The ministry which persons exercise under God is said to 'be of grace'. Grace is given to ' preach the unsearchable riches of Christ'. When Christ comes there will be an expounding vision of grace, for grace brings revelation and an 'eternal inheritance'.

This book was written to exalt grace, and to show that it is of all things most important for all human beings in today's world. It is hoped that we will break through our prejudice and view the greatness of God's grace, which "He has so freely lavished upon us'. How great, and how liberating a thing it is for the human spirit to bathe in such lavish grace, and to know, at last, the true liberty of the human spirit!
